How To PACK A MOBILE

Preparing Mobiles for shipping or storage is quite simple. Sewing the rods on a board keeps them apart and is the best way to keep the Mobile from damaging itself while being moved about.

What you will need:

CORUGATED CARD BOARD

PACKING TWINE

SPRAY GLUE

BUBBLE WRAP 1/4 INCH BUBBLES

  • Lay Mobile part on the bubble wrap.
  • Fold over Bubble wrap so the Mobile is sandwiched between two layers.
  • Cut a length of twine long enough to sew the Mobile to board. Add a generous extra length to allow tying in the back once  done.
  • Start threading the twine from one end. Use the Packing needle to make holes from the front. Making the hole from the front will make sure you do not scratch the finish by coming up blindly from the back.
  • At the end tape on all four sides.

PACK A MOBILE BASE

  • At first cut several 2" to 2,5" wide and 24" to 36" long strips of bubble wrap.
  • Start at the bottom one of the base's legs and wrap a wad of bubble wrap around its end.Tape around the wad. Then wrap the rest of the length of bubble wrap up the base's leg until you run out and use tape to secure the bubble wrap. Be careful not to stick any tape on the finish. Proceed with the other legs in the same way. Wrap the top of the base and stick the cork on the point, tape it to the bubble wrap.
